School Magazine

My magazine is called ‘KHS.’ I chose this name because it is precise and is the schools name. The color scheme of my masthead is black and yellow, I decided to use these colors because they are the school’s traditional colors. I decided to make the letters big and bold with a black outline to help it stand out and also act like a logo at the same time as being my masthead.
My main image is a  medium shot of a sixth form student named Tom and he takes up most of the cover. I didn't include any other images  on my cover because I want my main image/article to get the most attention.
I have used seven sell lines, one pug and a pull quote. The purpose of these are to show what content the magazine contains, make people want to read and find out more. Again I used the color scheme of black, white and yellow. I also made a slogan which I think is catchy and easy to remember and a footer with additional information.  To create this cover I used Adobe In Design and Abode Photoshop.
Overall I am pretty pleased with my magazine cover. I think it is informative and has a fairly good layout.

*The same as draft because having problems saving/editing.

Main Image

These are the photos I took for my school magazine cover. The model in the pictures is a Year 12 pupil called Tom, I chose Tom because he is an ideal male student. Number one and three are medium shots and number two is a medium close up. The pictures were took with a Canon 70d.

 1.                                                              2.                                                             3.

The main image I chose is below, the purpose of my main image is to show what/who the main article is about, Tom represents a sixth form student and hopefully would attract people into buying the magazine. I removed the background of this image using Photoshop.

Draft Of Final Cover

This is my first draft of the school magazine cover using In Design and Photoshop. I've decided edit it again because there's to much blank space above the main image, I think I'll also change the texts size and font.

Magazine Cover Draft Analysis

Masthead
I named my magazine 'KHS' because the purpose of the magazine is to provide news, information and entertainment for the pupils and teachers of King Henry VIII School. I chose yellow and black because those are the schools colours and I made it big and bold to stand out.

Pug and Slogan
This pug is fairly simple but I think it would grab the
attention of year 7's and would hopefully attract them to buying the magazine. I chose to use this slogan because I think it is catchy and easy to remember and hopefully it grabs the target markets attention.

Sell lines
I used these sell lines to try interest the reader and used lines that I think would appeal to the target market. I tried to make these sell lines stand out and grab the readers attention without covering or taking away from the main image. I tried to make the sell lines give enough information for the buyer to want to read and find out more.

Splash
This is big and bold to make it stand out. It describes and tells us about the main image. It helps attract the reader to the magazine. It will hopefully make them want to read and find out more.

Footer
The footer bar states that there is revision techniques and tips inside this magazine which would be useful to the target market. There is also a price to show how much the magazine costs.

Pull Quote
The pull quote is to try get even more attention and make the reader want to find out why "Attendance is key" and see what else was said.

Main Image
The main image takes up a lot of the cover. The image is a photo of a student to go with the splash "Life as a student". This should appeal to the reader and stand out.
